original mixed media collage on hard panel
9 x 12 inches, varnished
why are we fascinated by ruins? why do people visit ruined castles and estates? what is the appeal of an abandoned shopping mall? why are entire books dedicated to deserted towns and empty cities? is it the indifference of time? is it the demonstration of our own insignificance? is it ghosts? i made this collage like a memory i could not quite grasp, some derelict idea decaying day by day.
with acrylic, crayon, found paper, ink, gel and varnish
a quotation comes to mind …
You can reconstruct the picture from chaos and memory's ruins.
