tall dark man meets fair rich widow

$12.00

an illustrated chapbook

each two-page spread is an original painting (detail, cropped for page dimension and size) accompanied by descriptive writing (like a tiny story for each)

each painting is an icon or archetype of sorts, like the major arcana of the tarot

for example, The World shows the face of an astronaut on the left and the following writing on the right —

THE WORLD
The world is the smallest thing. You would not believe how small it is, how lost. It is this one small thing, almost nothing, and beyond it is everything, a blackness so vast that there is no point in describing it. What does in nite even mean? Emptiness, void, nothingness, vacuum. Write your laws of the kinetic theories of gases, but then point at Jupiter and tell me what that truly describes, and why. The astronaut must wonder. Yet the astronaut oats in space, looks down upon the world and somehow, incredibly, remains a stable thing containing thought, containing all the universe within some set of ideas, these vague relays of beliefs and understandings that allow the astronaut to keep going, to continue the mission, to continue with the world.

Remember that the Tarot is a great and sacred arcanum — its abuse is an obscenity in the inner and a folly in the outer. It is intended for quite other purposes than to determine when the tall dark man will meet the fair rich widow.
