LIBRARY CARD ART SET (neutral)

$25.00

Two ink, wash and watercolour paintings on vintage library cards, within a variety of subjects, themes and colours.

Sign-out cards now only exist as curiosity items — relics still occasionally found in the back pocket of library books. Explain to your kids how these acted as "passports to literacy" and just watch their dumbfounded looks. So I take these vintage, obsolete cards and repurpose them as art, making the paintings work in concert with the card's marks and history.

They make fantastic bookmarks (they have an incredible durability), and make great gifts (how often can you send original art in a basic-postage envelope? or just tucked into a birthday card?). I have also seen people frame them, as the coloured inks and watercolours look luminous behind glass.

Each card attractively packaged in a clear plastic sleeve with a decorative card top.

The two titles in this set are —
Neutralism and Nonaligment
Outlines of the History of Ethics for English Readers

To use an electronics analogy, closing a book on a bookmark is like pressing the Stop button, whereas when you leave the book facedown, you've only pressed Pause.
— Anne Fadiman

A library implies an act of faith.
— Victor Hugo

Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are.
— Mason Cooley

All artwork is wholly original, done by hand, directly onto the cards, in India ink, watercolour or liquid acrylic ink.

Mailed with heavy card or board so they won't bend in transit.

A highly affordable way to send original art to your friends.

Everything shipped comes with an extra art surprise.

And remember: every thing, every soul, becomes dyed with the colour of its use, its thoughts, the world.

Escape the dreaming planet ... give the gift of original art!
